Peter A. Carfagna - Founder
Peter Carfagna founded Magis, LLC in 2007. He is the chairman of the firm’s investment committee and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, closing and monitoring Magis’ portfolio company investments. Prior to founding Magis, Peter served as chief legal officer/general counsel of IMG, the sports marketing and entertainment leader, for more than 10 years. In addition, he was previously a partner at Jones Day, and was recently senior counsel at Calfee, Halter & Griswold. Peter is a member of the board of directors of various private companies, as well as charitable and professional sports organizations, including the LPGA. He also teaches courses relating to sports law and marketing at Harvard Law School, Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Case Western Reserve Law School, Ave Maria School of Law and University of Miami School of Law. Peter currently offers his Representing the Professional Athlete course on Coursera as a massive open online course, which is sponsored by Case Western Reserve Law School.
Peter is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College and magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He also is a Rhodes Scholar.
Amy M. Gyetko - Controller and Tax Director
Amy Gyetko is a member of the firm's investment committee and assists in evaluating and conducting due diligence on prospective investments. She is also responsible for all the financial reporting and monitoring functions for Magis and its portfolio companies. Amy previously worked at Paragon Advisors, a financial advisory firm specializing in comprehensive and confidential management of family wealth. She was also previously a part of Deloitte's Lead Tax Services and Private Client Advisors groups.
Amy is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton.
Ricky Volante - Sports and Entertainment Consultant
Ricky Volante is a consultant of the firm's investment committee. Ricky founded Sixth City Sports & Entertainment, LLC, based in Cleveland, OH.
Ricky co-teaches the Representing the Professional Athlete massive open online course at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and the Sports Law for Non-lawyers course at the Harvard Extension School with Peter. Ricky now serves as the Executive Director of the Great Lakes Sports and Entertainment Law Academy, and as an Adjunct Instructor of Legal Issues in Sport and Sports Marketing and Communications at Lake Erie College.
Ricky previously worked at SPIRE Institute, the Mid-American Conference and Core 5 Sports Management. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Lake Erie College, and obtained his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
